Explaining the Prostate
The prostate in humans is an exocrine gland that is responsible for part of the male reproduction system. In short, the prostate’s function is to secrete a milky white alkaline substance along with the body’s semen, a substance that enables the semen to live longer and to travel easily.
As a gland, however, the prostate is able to be stimulated, and many men enjoy a prostate massage in order to increase sexual satisfaction.
Because the prostate plays such a large role in male ejaculation, its location is perfect for easy access. One catch, though, and it’s a catch that scares a lot of men – you must enter anally in order to stimulate the prostate; the gland is located very close to the anterior rectal wall.
What is a Prostate Massage?
A prostate massage is exactly what it sounds like. An individual will enter through the anus, working their way up only about two inches (straight in and up toward the back, moving slightly downward), and the prostate presents itself through the thin rectal wall as a lump of soft tissue.
The prostate is incredibly sensitive to pressure, able to be likened to a woman’s g-spot, so it does not take a lot of pressure at all to stimulate the prostate. Due to many nerve endings and the overall sensitivity of the rectal wall in general, a very light massage can result in some very intense pleasure.
Overcoming the Taboo
For many men, any anal penetration is thought of as a homosexual act. This is not only wrong, but as anyone who has experienced a prostate massage can tell you, it’s rather foolish – foolish to be so shut off and foolish to deprive yourself of the sexual satisfaction a massage can offer.
Most men—if they’re sticklers about their health—will receive a prostate massage in their life via a doctor when they’re being examined. So as long as some stranger is going to go in there with oily lube and rubber gloves semi against your will, you may as well embrace your body and learn to enjoy a prostate massage for the intense satisfaction that it’s able to provide.
Of course, men will have to reach this point when they’re good and ready. It’s easy to write humorous quips about the topic, but it is a very sensitive issue for some men. Anal penetration, for anyone, can be a touchy topic.
Giving a Prostate Massage
To give a prostate massage correctly, it helps to stimulate the prostate first. This will create a reaction of sorts wherein a man will actually want the pleasure to continue, thus anal penetration will not be so much of a chore.
By pressing your finger(s) against the perineum (some call this the taint – the area of thin skin between the scrotum and anus), you can stimulate the prostate by stroking and rubbing this area, either gently or with a little gusto.
To massage the prostate through the rectum, the person receiving the massage should lie flat on their stomach. Entering the anus slowly, the person giving the massage should gently work their way up a couple of inches once inside. You will feel a soft lump of tissue and can begin to gently massage it.
Before you’re ready to either give or receive a prostate massage, it is very important to remember a few things. We’ll quickly go over a few things here to keep in mind and then elaborate on them separately.
● Relaxation is a must
● Relieve yourself beforehand
● Gentle massage is the way
● Lubrication is your friend
● Working your way up
Relaxation is a must:
It is important that you are relaxed before receiving this massage. Taking a warm bath or gently massaging the buttocks may loosen up the anal cavity for easier entry. A more forcible entry is not pleasurable for anyone, obviously.
Relieve yourself beforehand:
The nerve endings inside of the rectal wall and on the prostate gland itself will give you a sensation very similar to what you feel when you need to relieve yourself – both numbers 1 and 2, unfortunately. It is a feeling that you will quickly get used to, but it is important to relieve yourself before you begin with a prostate massage. Giving a massage while needing to use the bathroom might just trigger it.
Gentle massage is the way:
Once you locate the prostate, whether you’re giving yourself or someone else a massage, it is important that you only gently massage the gland. Damaging this gland will damage the reproductive system. When done gently (think about massaging a nipple or the clitoris), the best satisfaction is felt. Also, remember to avoid anything that may be sharp, such as fingernails, an out-of-place piece of plastic on a toy, etc. You do not want to damage the rectal wall.
Lubrication is your friend:
Even if you are accustomed to receiving prostate massages, the anal cavity is still going to be a tight fit. After you’re relaxed and loose, make sure that you use lubrication. Water-based lube is really the best here; you might want to avoid lubrications packed with stimulants. They might be an irritant to the rectal wall.
Working your way up:
If using toys—vibrators and/or dildos, butt-plugs, or even a g-spot stimulator inserted anally—it is important that you start small. It is very easy to stretch and tear the thin lining of the rectal wall. This can cause a lot of pain, and if the veins are damaged nearer the anus itself, hemorrhoids can develop. So remember to start with smaller toys – find sex toys that are intended for the job; something like a large dildo for a woman wouldn’t provide that “massage” effect anyway.
Toys or Manual Labor?
Whether you want to use some type of sex toy or just your fingers is totally up to you. However, it is important to remember that this is a very sensitive area. If you are a newcomer at receiving a prostate massage, it is probably best that your partner begin with their fingers. This allows for more of a hands-on experience, pun definitely intended.
By feeling around with your fingers, the action can be controlled. Using an index finger to feel around can be gentler for a man than a toy – even a toy on the smaller side of the equation.
If you are ready to graduate to toys, there are a lot that you can choose from. Specific toys for prostate massage are definitely available in a wide variety, and other toys, like women’s g-spot stimulators and anal beads, can also be used to stimulate this area in a gentle fashion.
Remember, above all else, that a prostate massage should be treated very gently. There is a risk that you can damage the interior of the rectal wall and even the prostate itself. So before you give or receive a prostate massage, you should be well aware of the factors involved, follow the steps listed above, and use caution.
